I create military themed artwork using my own fingerprints to create each poppy! This represents the individual mark every Serviceman and woman makes on history. The two soldiers design in my work was designed and created by myself and has become very widely known amongst the military community, especially on social media. I have also had my design embroidered onto hoodie with 2 different companies, and it can be put onto other items too.
I am also working on a very special painting where instead of adding the fingerprint poppies myself, I have been inviting service personnel and veterans to add them instead! It is called 'Path to Peace ' and it currently has 102 poppies on it! On completion I would like to donate it to a military establishment so it can be looked after and visited by future generations!
I have loved creating since I was 3. Between the ages of 11 and 14 I had alot of surgery requiring lengthy hospital stays, so I used to paint as a way to keep focus.
I currently work in a hospital which has alot of military history as it is where Sir Archibald Mcindoe treated the burned airmen, also known as 'The Guinea Pig Club'. My inspiration comes from this and my grandmother who actually worked with Sir Mcindoe looking after the airmen and cooking for the surgeons. She told me we must never forget them or their sacrifice, so I aim to do this via my art.
Be true to yourself, keep going and never give up!
