I was pleased to be invited by residents of an Exmoor village to give a talk and presentation about my small business and how I got the idea to start it.

It all started when I was a young boy living near the sea and beach combing regularly. As the years went by, I could see the impact that plastics were having in the sea.  I worked in retail for much of my life. It was while doing a beach clean one morning and wondering how could do even more to help, that the idea came to me to put my retailing skills and plastic awareness together to start my own business at the age of 63!

The group had booked me for 2 hours and I hoped they didn’t expect me to talk for all of that time! When I arrived at the venue, I checked how long they wanted me to talk for and they said around an hour with Q&A to follow with afternoon tea. I did my presentation with Q&A as we went along. As the last couple of slides appeared, I thought to myself “How can I fill the time?” However, when I looked at the clock, it had been 90 minutes!

As we all enjoyed our sandwiches and cakes, people were so complimentary and said it was one of the best talks they have been to and how inspired they felt.

I too feel inspired now to go and do more presentations!
