Amy Nicholas of Morgans Butchery Wins Retail Innovator of the Year at Women in Food & Drink Awards 2026

Amy Nicholas, Director of Morgans Butchery, has been named Retail Innovator of the Year at the Women in Food & Drink Awards 2026, a national awards programme celebrating outstanding women across the UK food and drink industry.

The Women in Food & Drink Awards, held at Hilton Bankside, London, brought together leading professionals from across the sector to recognise innovation, leadership and excellence in food, drink, retail and hospitality. The awards aim to shine a spotlight on women making a significant impact and driving positive change across the industry.

Amy was also awarded Highly Commended in the Woman of the Year category, recognising her outstanding leadership and contribution to the sector.

Morgans Butchery is a family-run rural business based at Baythorne Hall, on the border of Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Essex, known for championing high-welfare British meat, working closely with trusted local farmers and educating customers about where their food comes from. Since taking over the business in 2022, Amy has played a key role in transforming Morgans from near bankruptcy into a thriving community-focused shop.

As part of this transformation, Amy has also led the development of accessibility and inclusion within the business, embedding it into the foundations of the shop rather than treating it as an afterthought. This commitment has helped Morgans become a recognised example of how small independent businesses can lead the way in inclusive retail.

Speaking after receiving the award, Amy said:

As a small family business, we’ve worked incredibly hard to rebuild Morgans and to prove that traditional retail can be innovative, inclusive and forward-thinking. The award marks another milestone for Morgans Butchery, following recent international recognition for its accessibility work at the United Nations in Vienna, and further highlights the growing role of independent retailers in shaping the future of British food.
