#SBS Invest – Conditions of Entry
- The Promoter:
1.1 Theo Paphitis Small Business Sunday Limited with registered company number 08540787 and registered address 1 St Georges Road, Wimbledon, London, United Kingdom, SW19 4DR.
1.2 The Promoter’s website can be found here.
1.3 The ‘#SBS Crew’ will oversee the running of the Competition on behalf of the Promoter.
- The Competition:
2.1 #SBS Invest: one or more #SBS businesses could receive an investment of at least £50,000 and up to a maximum of £250,000 from investor(s) for a percentage of equity in their business, subject to the terms of the deal negotiated.
- Competition Dates and How to Enter:
3.1 The Competition will run from Monday 12th June 2023 to and the chance to enter via Stage 1 closes on Friday 7th July 2023:
Monday 12th June 2023 (Stage 1 Opening Date) to Friday 7th July 2023 (Stage 1 Closing Date):
- Entrants to submit a completed #SBSInvest entry form which can be found here and a filmed business pitch of maximum 5 minutes in length.
Successful Stage 1 applicants will be contacted after the Stage 1 Closing Date to progress to Stage 2.
Monday 17th July 2023 (Stage 2 Opening Date) to Thursday 31st August 2023 (Stage 2 Closing Date):
- Entrants to submit their business plan and investment plan.
Successful Stage 2 applicants will be contacted by Friday 29th September to progress to Stage 3.
Wednesday 15th November (date subject to change):
- Entrants to attend an in-person pitch with the panel of investors. The pitches will be held in London and precise location details will be shared in advance.
The successful #SBS winner(s) will be contacted by the #SBS Crew, using the contact details provided in their entry form, to confirm their investment. The business or businesses will then be publicly announced at #SBSEvent2024. Subject to successful completion of due diligence, the winner(s) will be announced publicly on the Promoter’s website and may also be announced on social media platforms, and any other channel as decided by the Promoter.
3.2 All Competition entries must be received by the Promoter in accordance with the dates outlined above, at the following email address: firstname.lastname@example.org
3.3 Opening Dates begin at 12 noon (BST).
3.4 Closing Dates end at 17.30 (BST).
3.5 All entries received after the Closing Dates are automatically disqualified.
3.6 No purchase is necessary to enter the Competition.
3.7 The Promoter will not accept responsibility for competition entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind.
3.8 By submitting an entry, entrants agree to these Conditions of Entry.
3.9 Entrants reserve the right to withdraw from the Competition at any time by notifying the #SBS Crew in writing at email@example.com
- Entry Limits:
4.1 There is a limit of one entry per #SBS Award Winner.
4.2 Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted.
5.1 The Competition is only open to #SBS Award Winners who are residents in the UK and aged 18 years or over.
5.2 Entrants must be able to demonstrate a trading history of at least two years with financial records to support this criteria.
5.3 Employees of the Promoter and members of their immediate families or households are not eligible to enter.
5.4 The Promoter may require proof of eligibility from entrants in order to enter the Competition.
- Judging Criteria:
6.1 The Competition entries will be judged by the #SBS Crew and a panel of investors. Any decisions of the #SBS Crew and the panel of investors will be final in all matters and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into to dispute this fact.
7.1 Winner(s) could receive an investment of at least £50,000 from investor(s) for a percentage of equity in their business, subject to the terms of the deal negotiated.
7.2 Any winning application is subject to a thorough due diligence process and where any contradictory information is identified, such applicant(s) may be disqualified at any stage of the Competition, including after the date of announcing the winner(s).
7.3 Any investment decision is subject to the views of the panel of investors who may choose not to invest in any entry on the basis that it does not meet their personal investment criteria which is at their own discretion.
7.4 There is no minimum or maximum number of winners applicable to this Competition.
7.5 There is no alternative for the provision of any cash investment.
7.6 Any cash investment is non-transferable.
7.7 The investment cannot be claimed by a third party on an entrant’s behalf.
7.8 Any decision of the #SBS Crew and the panel of investors will be final in all matters and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into to dispute this fact.
7.9 If the winner(s) cannot be contacted, or has not accepted the investment proposal pending successful completion of the due diligence process, within 48 hours of notification by the #SBS Crew, then the Promoter reserves the right to withdraw any offer of investment upon receiving agreement to withdraw from the participating investors.
7.10 The Promoter does not accept any responsibility if winner(s) are unable to receive the investment for any reason whatsoever.
8.1 The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify an entrant if their conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of this Competition.
8.2 Entrants must abide by the #SBS Code of Conduct which is applicable to this Competition in its entirety. The #SBS Code of Conduct can be found here.
- Breach of Conditions of Entry:
9.1 If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these Conditions of Entry, the Promoter may, at its discretion, suspend or terminate an entrant’s participation in the Competition.
- Promoter’s Right:
10.1 If it becomes necessary to do so, the Promoter reserves the right to void, suspend, cancel or amend the Competition, at its discretion.

12.1 Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, the investors, their agents or distributors will not be responsible or liable to compensate the winner(s) or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of receiving the investment except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, the investors, their agents or distributors (whether acting in their individual capacity or as part of a group). Winner(s) statutory rights are not affected.
- Governing Law:
13.1 These Conditions of Entry shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
