I’m Andrea de Gabriel, an award-winning portrait and branding photographer, creating high-end, bespoke imagery since 2003.

My Bio
“Life brought me to professional photography almost by accident as, before then, my working life orbited around different technical and customer service roles”
Unlike many other photographers, I do not have a “I grew up with a camera in my hand” type of story.
Though my family has two professional and very accomplished photographers, I didn’t have a camera for most of my life - but I did LOVE a Polaroid camera my dad gave me for my birthday when I was a teenager.
I used it a LOT, mainly because of the novelty factor of instant images!
My most treasured, early, photo-related memory is of using my cousin’s “proper” film camera to photograph surfers on the beach, and I was so happy with the action shots I captured!
He had all of the photographic equipment to develop photos at home, and I will never forget how in awe I was as I saw the images start to show on paper, as they developed.
It felt like magic!
I fell in love, properly, with photography at college whilst doing a C&G Photography Course - which is totally back to front!
I learned photography the old fashioned, and very technical, way by using film and a dark room, at college, and once I obtained my certificate, my business was set up.
From day one my work has been about making a difference to, and having a positive impact on, the lives of everyone who stands in front of my camera - and this ethos is still very much the driving force behind everything I do!
My Business Tips
- Don't' worry about the competition. Do your thing!
- You are unique and, when you understand that, you'll know that you have no competitors because no one else can be like you!
- If you truly love what you do, and it matters, never give up. Take a break instead if you need to, then get back to it.
- Honour your business and work by always being transparent in your dealings with everyone.
- Be kind to all you meet in business, and in life in general - you never know what afflicts others, and what they might be going through.
