My Buzz

Hey, I'm Ceri and I'd like to introduce you to Bare Cards; The Greetings cards with a conscience. Our cards are 'naked & free' - 'naked' because they don't need a separate envelope which means they are 'free' from additional waste.

How do they work? By way of a third panel with a simple peelable adhesive, the card simply folds onto itself to form your built-in 'envelope'.

Our mission: To push the envelope (literally!). Whilst envelopes have been used for hundreds of years to deliver cards, they are simply a single-use paper waste which ends up either in recycling or landfill. With over 750 million cards being purchased last year in the UK alone, that's a lot of paper waste!

Additional Benefits: This clever design has yet more benefits to offer!

  • We can fully-illustrate across the trifold board AND the 'built-in envelope'!
  • Our cards are often reused as ART once finished with as a greetings card,
  • They stand robustly on display in our 'Z' or 'Vanity Mirror' designs,
  • They help those with accessibility needs who struggle to get cards in and out of envelopes,
  • We are currently researching how they could be sold as a pre-franked product - card and stamp combined as one!

As several of our happy customers have said "Why aren't all greetings cards made like this!"

My Bio

A little about me:

After graduating with a Law Degree from UWE, I worked for Zurich (Allied Dunbar as was then) in their Pensions Review Team.

In 2002, I left work to become a full-time Mum to our lovely children Lauren and Dan, returning to employment as a Teaching Assistant when they both started school.

Helping children understand and manage their emotions quickly became my passion and for 16 years I have been privileged enough to have supported 100's of children in my pastoral role.

Bare Cards was born in lockdown, after it became my husband's mission to try and reduce single-use paper and plastic waste in his industry - greetings cards. It quickly became a family business and in July this year (2025), I finally left my job in school to run it full-time.

Becoming a member of the #SBS Community couldn't have come at a better time. Being a sole-trader means that I am juggling every aspect of the business. I'm learning everyday and looking forward to learning from and sharing my knowledge with the rest of the community.

My Business Tips

Little things I have picked up along the way:

  • Have an effective way of planning your time that works for you
  • Your Brand Values are at the core of your business, but this doesn't mean that you can't re-evaluate or change them along the way.
  • Put yourself out there and challenge your comfort zone. It's not going to come to you; you have to go out there and get it!
  • Make sure that you get the downtime you need! For me, exercise, chill time and family time are imperative for success!
  • Get a comfortable chair!
