5 Ways To Spruce Up Your Home Office For Summer

With lockdowns over and all restrictions set to come to an end later this month, the vast majority of us will now know our working arrangements for this summer. If you’re set to be working from home as normality resumes, why not celebrate the end of a tough spring and the start of the new season in style? Simply adding touches of summer to your home working environment will bring the sunshine indoors, even if it’s none too summery outside!

Shades of Summer

The most effective way to transform the look of a room is by changing the walls. A lick of paint can freshen up even the dreariest of interiors and with the arrival of summer, you could give your home office a makeover with sunny shades of yellows and oranges in order to keep motivation levels high. Bright, bold shades make an excellent choice for this time of year and are said to be a great mood enhancer.

If, however, when you’re feeling trapped inside your office when you’d rather be outside enjoying the warm weather, perhaps a shade of green would be a better choice? There are hundreds of green hues to choose from and as the colour we closely associate with nature, green interiors are naturally calming, as well as inspiring, making them ideal in a home office where focus and productivity are key.

Brighten with Botanicals

Summer is all about embracing the great outdoors, enjoying the warm weather and getting closer to nature.  When the garden can only be observed through the office window, an instant pick-me-up might be required and is happily easy to achieve. Bringing nature into your home study with a summery “shelfie” lined with succulents or vases of flowers from your garden would be a cheerful and inexpensive addition. Even if you’re not particularly green fingered, there are so many artificial blooms and succulents available online in all types of eye-catching containers. In some cases, it’s hard to tell the difference between real and faux flowers as the quality of the artificial flowers has improved so much in recent years.

Go Tropical!

It goes without saying that not all of us will be lucky enough to be enjoying holidays this summer. Popular destinations abroad have only just been given the green light and bookings for accommodation in the UK are proving difficult to acquire. This summer, you could consider adding a fun tropical feel to your home office by bringing those holiday vibes inside! Tropical prints are everywhere right now, and depictions of palm trees and exotic flowers on walls and soft furnishings would add a charismatic summery vibe to your working space. If you’re not into patterns, opt for tropical colours like sunshine yellow, lime green and fuchsia pink.

Sunny Stationery

If you don’t have the time, budget or inclination to give your home office a full summer makeover, you can still add a summery vibe by focusing on the smaller details. Replace boring stationery and desk accessories with summer-themed alternatives. The feeling that fresh, new stationery can bring is one on its own, so start the summer with new sticky notes, funky pens and other colourful must-have desk items.

Go to the Garden

The ultimate way to spruce up your home working environment for summer would be to relocate it into the garden! If you a have garage, summerhouse or shed that you could repurpose for home working, it would be the perfect location for those long days spent behind your desk. Surrounded by nature and offering views of your own private garden, you’d be less likely to feel overly disconnected from summer, and the change of scenery would be wonderful to boost your motivation levels!
