Completed Romans to Railways Project Unveiled at Lincoln Railways Station

Officially unveiled on April 9th 2024, the Romans to Railways project at Lincoln railway station is now finally complete.

Starting back in 2020 with a callout for artists, I had no idea that this huge community rail project would take me on such an amazing journey!

Initially I was commissioned to design a total of 12 pieces of artwork to go on display at Lincoln railway station, but as the project grew it became a huge collaborative piece, working with local schools, community groups, businesses and sponsors.

As well as welcoming visitors to the city and brightening the journey of commuters, the designs for ‘Romans to Railways’ were commissioned to brighten the railway station, whilst also helping to showcase Lincoln’s places of interest and rich history.

After securing the final project sponsorship, last year I was asked to complete the final 6 designs, working with wonderful local businesses (included Siemens, Lincolnshire Co-op, The LCVYS, The University of Lincoln and Lincoln Arts Centre) to help bring their ideas for their designs to life.

Hopefully this colourful new artwork will be enjoyed by both locals and visitors to the City for many years to come.

Finally, I’d like to say a huge thank you again to the sponsors EMR, Community Rail Network, North Notts and Lincs Community Rail Partnership, Lincoln City Foundation and the Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia for bringing this project together and for giving me this fantastic opportunity.
