Here is our Editor’s Letter for October’s Issue of ManDad Magazine…

Hi all and Happy Autumn!

October is busy! There’s so much to get through this month, from finishing up Black Maternal Mental Health Week to Black History Month, ADHD Awareness Month, Go Sober For October, and so much more. And then there’s a half-term break, plus Halloween coming up, followed shortly by Bonfire/Fireworks Night.

We decided to make October #TheSportsIssue and I was incredibly happy when Jane Couch MBE agreed to be our cover model. I remember watching Jane’s journey as she was in the press a lot and I paid attention to sports, especially martial arts, or anything fighting-related. Jane was heavily criticised and ridiculed, but she gave so much to the sport she loved. The Fleetwood Assassin is a 5-time World Champion and has inspired so many female athletes, fighters, and sportsWomen in general.

Inside this Issue you’ll get to meet ‘The Cute Assassin’ – little 6yr old Harper who also has a passion for Boxing! And we hear from her Dad, Arron. We’ve also featured Dad, and author, Tom Kreffer, who is currently working on book no.4. Tom used writing to deal with the reality of becoming a Dad, and hasn’t looked back since that first journal entry.

As well as books from Tom and Jane, there are a few other suggestions this month. Stories include overcoming injury and illness, addiction to drugs and alcohol, and mental health issues. Pick one up for a truly inspiring read. And, we’ve looked at a number of sports to help you with some ideas for starting something new, getting out of the house, and creating some ‘me’ time.

There’s nutrition info, plus content from 3 Personal Trainers! We’ve looked at Viking-style training in our Warrior Workouts, plus covered some common sports injuries. Take a look at our recommendations for fitness equipment – you’ll be buff in no time.

And this month you’ll find articles on Suicide Prevention – MaryAnne Crook delivers ASIST Training and R;pple is an online Suicide Prevention tool. We’ve also included a family guide to the latest cyber security from the SnapChat team to help keep your teens safe on the Internet.

I think you’ll agree that it’s a pretty packed Issue. As always, if you have any feedback, we’d love to hear from you. And if you want to contribute, get featured, or even be on the front cover, then please get in touch.

Just email us at hello@mandad.media

Until next month…

Be safe, be well, and ‘Do It Like A ManDad’ – #dilamd
