My Top 5 tips for School Leavers

Todays Blog speaks about the importance of school leavers and job hunters having a great CV to hand into businesses. My top five CV tips are: 1) Include the correct contact details such as your current mobile number 2) Add your date of birth, new work rules means the company has to check you have a right to work in the UK. 3) Your CV should be typed neatly and presented correctly. Try and keep it to one or two A4 pages, you can discuss it further during the interview. 4) Don't lie, or bend the truth, you will be found out and easily sacked because of this. 5) Be prepared to answer the phone to an unknown number. If you don't answer, the manager might just move onto the next person.

Hopefully the next stage will mean being invited to the 'dreaded' interview. During my career I have met hundreds of people trying to impress me, these first impressions are very important. Be confident and think of it as having a conversation with somebody on the bus, don't just answer 'yes' or 'no' all the way through. Dressing smart and looking neat and tidy with help. I once waited for over an hour for someone to show up, I found out afterwards that they went to the wrong store… 15 miles away! That person then asked if they could have another interview at the correct store. I'll leave you to wonder what my answer was. – for details about us, please view www.lrbtrophies.co.uk
