Pep Up Your Patio For The Summer Holidays!

The sun’s been shining on your property for several weeks now, and hopefully there’s much more to come! So if you’re thinking your patio needs some TLC, there’s still time to bring it up to scratch with a few easy to implement ideas.

Here are 4 ways in which you can pep up your patio to make the most of this glorious heatwave.

A fresh design

Depending on your budget, you could completely change the appearance of your patio. There’s a whole host of different designs available, such as split level; this impressive look divides a patio in two, creating distinct spaces in the process, so maybe a defined BBQ-ing area as well as a water feature or lush summery blooms.

One popular design is made from mosaic tiles, which allow for a greater degree of creativity in the crafting of a particular pattern or imagery. Natural stone is another option, producing an authentic appearance from materials like slate and limestone. This is ideal if your home includes similar features, creating synergy between interiors and garden.

Planters

Whether you opt for real or artificial greenery to fill your planters, they’ll be certain to make an impact. They’re fantastic for adding height to your garden or creating areas of seclusion. Stepped planters can be used to layer your plants, making them significantly more visible and exposed to sunlight.

Wooden planters are highly customisable – just apply your preferred varnish or paint. Chalk paint is a particular favourite of ours, adding a distressed look that gives the impression that your pots are wonderfully aged. There’s also metal, copper and stone planters for a diverse range of textures. Ceramic planters, too, are available in a variety of colours, designs and shapes; and wicker creates a beachy, boho vibe.

Lighting

However long our evenings get, gatherings may still need a bit of illumination. There’s an abundance of different lighting options you can choose from. Try recessed ground lights to accentuate certain features or show a path.

There’s also a range of wall lights, such as traditional barn lamps, that can be fitted perfectly to distribute light all around. Or you can opt for an eye light, which could be installed above the planters to make your greenery sparkle. An alternative is festoon lights, which can be dangled everywhere, transforming your patio into an intimate paradise.

Furniture

One of the best ways to add character to your patio is by making furniture a prominent feature. Rather than the typical, folding garden chairs, visitors can relax in a wicker chair. Wicker, seagrass and rattan are always popular options for outdoor furniture, but are particularly on trend this summer, hence there’s plenty of choice, allowing you to complete the look with matching wicker tables and poufs.

Other outdoor furniture options such as storage benches also make great seats. Or why not upcycle and hand paint your own, creating your own bespoke look. If you have a conservatory, these pieces will be perfect to bring inside during the colder months.
