I never thought I’d sponsor anyone but I decided to contact a YouTube channel that I’ve followed from when they first started to see if it was something they may be interested in. With it being a football channel it’s not really something that my business deals with due to copyright for burning football badges etc but even the most passionate fan will have someone special to buy gifts for so there was nothing to lose really. After lots of discussions it was decided to give it a go and see if anything came from it.
In the first week I got a message for a tree decoration which is now hanging on a tree in the States, but then nothing for a few weeks. At the end of October I received a message via my website from a well known relish company to see if I would be able to do some tree decorations for a Christmas tree they were decorating as part of Sheffield Cathedral’s tree festival. To be honest I approached this with an amount of scepticism as didn’t believe it was a genuine order but it was and so glad that I accepted the order. Over 60 items later it’s now in Sheffield Cathedral and looking amazing.
Will I get any more orders come next year we will have to wait and see but the order’s that I’ve received so far has more than covered the layout for the sponsorship.
Some may think it’s a lot of money to sponsor a channel but the way I looked at it was that I was spending the same amount a month for a shelf in a shop. There are pro’s and con’s for both but I had a number of items stolen whilst in the shop so there was no chance of that happening on line.
As a thank you for those who watch the channel too they’re able to get a 10% discount by using a specified code but obviously they have to watch the channel to know what to use 🙂
So basically if you’ve ever thought about it I’d say go for it – you just never know who may reach out to you for your services 🙂
