On the 15th of April it is National #Vetrehabbers day created by Online Pet Health an online platform helping therapists grow their knowledge, from all over the world we are celebrating the work they are doing each and every day.

You have no doubt heard about Hydrotherapy and physical for people but what about pets? It is a growing part of the vet industry, This includes everything from walking on an underwater treadmill, laser therapy to acupuncture.

Merlin a 9 year old German Shepard is one of the pets helped by the Vetrehabber Team here at Fit4dogsuk, he became paralysed one day, with the help of the Rehab team at fit4dogsuk he learned to walk again and has been enjoying his doggy life again.

Kirsty Skeates Hydrotherapist and Director of the Fit4dogsuk “He is such a lovely dog and we are all so proud of him and his dedicated owner that is is still able to enjoy playing with his dog friends and walking around the farm still”

The Team at Fit4dogsuk works with an ever growing number of dogs each week and the list of conditions we helps is extensive.

The range of conditions or diseases our Vetrehabbers can assess and treat may surprise you! Our team will work directly with your vet and they will share relevant information that will help with your pets treatment. Some examples of conditions that we help are Osteoarthritis, lameness, Spinal or neurological conditions, Hip and Elbow dysplasia to name a few.

Our Vetrehabbers use a variety of modality to aid in recovery “Land Exercises, Laser Therapy, Underwater Treadmill, Hydrotherapy pool, Pulsed Magnetic Therapy and Aquatic/Land Massage.

And when it comes to the results for animals that are recovering from operation or injury the recovery rate is increased, Hydrotherapy in conjunction with veterinary treatment can significantly improve the quality and rate of healing following surgery or traumatic injury.

In most cases the appropriate use of hydrotherapy can help with rehabilitation and increase the chance of a successful return to full fitness.

Kirsty Says “Dogs that have undergone a surgical procedure, therapies with our rehab team help cut the recovery time down, They can also help reduce the chance of other surgeries and reduce the risk of arthritis for example.

The Vetrehabbers put together a customised plan for each pet “because they can’t tell you what is wrong they only want to be helped, So there is no placebo effect animals truly want to get better and we help them and their owners. “

It is not just dogs, cats also take part in therapy programs some cats even use the underwater treadmills.
