When it comes to marketing planning, what kind of planner are you? Are you a wing it see kind?

Are you a leave no stone unturned, its all about the detail type of person?

Are you a can’t see long term so set 30 day or 90 day plans

Are you a wordy type or a mind map/creative type?

Are you a vision board type?

Are you a procrastinator?

Are you a jump straight in, no questions asked person?

Or are you a leave it someone else kind of planner?

Plans are nothing; planning is everything” said President Dwight D Eisenhower.

There is no right or wrong here, as with most things when it comes to marketing planning. How you plan and think and operate will differ person to person and from business to business. Planning is essential and needs to happen for your business to grow and succeed however, but how you plan can be your choice. How you do it will depend on you, how your mind works, what processes you have in place, what resources and skills you have and whether you outsource aspects of your marketing or planning to an agency, consultant or team member.

As I suggested previously, a plan can come in many forms. It can be a highly detailed document covering pages of words, research and recommendations, charts with actions and tables to fill in (as detailed here) or it can be a more visual based document, such as a mind map. Or a combination of all of the above. As long as the format you do can be amended and updated as things change and progress happens and as long as it can be measured against to gage results and ROI, there are options when it comes to the layout. Don’t let style overrule content though. If you need help goal setting, go to our site or if you need any advice moving forward with the direction for your business and its next steps, click here.
