My Bio

Our story:

Discover your ability
Back in 2018, Rachael and Jon put their ‘orthopaedic surgeon’ and ‘personal trainer/boxer’ brains together. They both have a heart for helping those with a disability to achieve their goals. So, with Jon’s past in motivational work, and Rachael’s understanding of medicine, they’re a great team working for fantastic outcomes. All at Able2B.

Whether it’s improving aerobic fitness or muscle strength – or improving concentration and self-belief. Our activities are fun and adapted to all.

Small beginnings:
From a tiny class in a local boxing club, to winning regional awards for our services to disability sport. It’s safe to say we’ve come a long way.
We’re so grateful to have received support from JustforChildren and Irwin Mitchell Solicitors. It’s enabled us to grow and to find a brand new home.

The Cofounders of Able2B:
Rachael – https://youtu.be/1CqoZR5Pr24?si=BsQjLa-DnwV_DA6o
Rachael is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon – and has been for over 10 years! She’s travelled, trained and worked in Norwich, Leeds and Sheffield. She’s grown in both knowledge and experience during her time in America and Australia, too.

In 2008, Rachael came home to Norwich to treat children and adults at the N&N University Hospital. As well as setting up regular NHS clinics for people with cerebral palsy, she was inspired to start a paediatric orthopaedic service. Her hope was to provide children with encouragement and the opportunity to succeed.

It’s important for youngsters to improve their strength and fitness; it contributes to good functioning later in life. Yet, having seen how few fitness opportunities there are for children with disabilities, Rachael was inspired set up Able2B. And now here we are!

Jon – https://youtu.be/-8LhH5So2Qw?si=hi5Ng2oBeN9GrnZt
Jon’s one of a kind. We’ve never met someone who motivates quite as well as he does. At Able2B, Jon runs fun and varied fitness programmes, which are open to all scales of ability.
“I’ve always believed in aiming for the top.”
Jon’s achieved both the European and British lightweight boxing titles. Being a boxer for 17 years certainly developed his strength – but he’s also learnt to succeed through mental agility and courage. He’s got years of experience as a personal trainer and motivational speaker, and he’s even chatted with schools about fitness, self-confidence and bullying.
