My Buzz

To be announced as one of the winners of Theo's Small Business Sunday was pretty amazing! Working as an online supplier especially in a rural area you can almost be classed as 'off the grid' and hidden from view. To be recognised for all the hard work and effort put in over many years gives you an instant boost and makes you even hungrier for success. I think what surprised us the most was the number of people out there running small businesses looking to raise awareness for the wonderful products and services they provide. It's great that #SBS are there to help and well worth the tweet to Mr Paphitis on a Sunday evening. The response for us on social media was incredible and immediate but also extremely rewarding. It gave us the chance to network with other companies and also past #SBS winners all of which were very welcoming. We are now proud to be part of the #SBSFamily and really appreciate Theo for singling us out as one to watch for the future!

My Bio

Carpet Tiles Next Day is an online supplier of contract quality carpet tiles. Based in North Norfolk we stock over 120,000 tiles across a range of different colours and constructions delivering next day if required to both business and residential customers across the UK. We are passionate about service and our company motto is 'Service to make you smile'. We set out to make the process of ordering carpet tiles online simple and hassle free. Whether you require one box or several pallets we treat every customer the same. We are proud to have a great reputation online and are trusted members of TrustPilot the independent review site.

Rivoli Trading Ltd was formed in November 2008 by Glen Howard and Judy Newstead-Howard. Glen had previously worked in the same field for nearly 11 years for another company but now in charge himself could fully explore the opportunities of the internet. He realised that everyone has a floor so was a prospective customer and by using the internet could reach further afield than had ever been possible before. The business started selling carpet tiles on eBay and Amazon for a couple of years before Glen decided to create the 'Carpet Tiles Next Day' website and develop the brand name. Now solely owned by Glen our offices and warehouse in Norfolk distribute nationwide and occasionally to customers in Europe. We supply to flooring contractors, companies, schools, car manufacturers and football clubs to name a few and also to residential customers looking for quality at an affordable price. We're totally customer focused and want all who buy from us to have a great experience from beginning to end. We strive not only to inform but also to educate customers on the benefits of carpet tiles and truly believe carpet tiles to be the 'flooring of the future'. Many of the factories are now looking towards recycling old carpet tiles and reusing the individual components to re-manufacture into new carpet tiles lowering their carbon footprint and in turn saving the environment.

Carpet Tiles Next Day is a company who really care about what they do. We have a great team here ready to help and assist you with your flooring requirements. Our customer base in the UK is diverse, from small businesses to well-known High Street retailers and corporate companies. We sell every day to customers from London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Cardiff, Bristol, Liverpool, Birmingham and also to Europe. Many of our customers have enjoyed the great service we provide and we look forward to continued business and success for years to come.

My Business Tips

For us as an online supplier I knew it was all about the 'system'. From grass roots level up I covered every step, from initial enquiry to posting samples to order processing and dispatch. I ran through and visualised the many possible scenarios that we may encounter on the way. Once the system was in place and after rigorous testing and tweaking using marketplaces like eBay and Amazon, I had a sound platform to work from. Most importantly it now had the scalability which would ensure steady growth over the coming years. The progression to our own website followed in 2011. Then bigger premises, more stock, warehouse staff and so on. Experience counts for a lot but if you're just starting out then don't be daunted, hard work will eventually pay off. Trust yourself and don't be put off by other peoples comments. For some the thought of beginning when I did in 2008 was foolhardy to say the least. The economy was in bad shape and I left a decent paid job to start the company. However with the help and encouragement of close family and friends I kept my self-belief and sanity to make it work. The watershed moment for me came after taking on our first employee. Handing some of the workload over to them gave me the time and space to sit back and see where we were going. Things like company accounts, VAT, Sage and marketing all soak in over time. In the end the product doesn't matter but the system can be used to sell almost anything. I wish you every success and remember to have fun!
