I’m Heather, founder of Heather Anne Home Fragrance — a Cumbrian brand creating beautiful, handmade fragrance with a little more meaning. Every scent I create is inspired by memory, emotion or place, and I’m passionate about making fragrance that makes you feel something as well as smell amazing. 💜
My Bio
I started Heather Anne Home Fragrance over twelve years ago as a hobby, making products for friends and family. Through word of mouth, that little hobby grew into a business, and I’ve continued to build the brand alongside my full-time career.
Today, I hand make every product myself here in Cumbria, creating candles, wax melts, reed diffusers, perfumes, car diffusers and more. My fragrances are inspired by people I love, places that mean something to me and memories I want to capture.
From Gwen’s Garden, inspired by my Nana, to my Alderney collection, inspired by my favourite place on earth, every scent has a story behind it.
I’m incredibly proud of how far Heather Anne Home Fragrance has come — from making my first products as a hobby to having stockists, customers across the UK and recognition through multiple awards. I’m still working full-time alongside the business, and after more than ten years I’m just as passionate about creating fragrance as I was when I started.
I don’t just want my scents to make your home smell beautiful. I want them to make you feel something.
My Business Tips
Start before you feel ready. Make the most of every opportunity!
I started my business as a hobby with no grand business plan, and it grew organically through word of mouth. You don’t need everything to be perfect before you begin — you need to start, listen to your customers and keep learning.
Know what makes you different. There are lots of businesses selling similar products, so finding your own story, values and reason for existing is incredibly important.
And finally, don’t underestimate consistency. Building a small business takes time. Keep showing up, keep improving and keep believing in what you’re creating — even when progress feels slow.
