A bit early to tell yet but everything went a bit mad last night with an extra 60 followers & a bit of a spike in website viewings. Lots of contact from other winners on Twitter which is great
I run Hopton House B&B in the very beautiful Shropshire Hills and I also run B&B training courses. These are 2 day courses run most months on how to Set Up, Market & Run a B&B. Click on the courses page on my B&B website for more details.
We aim for something a bit more special than you would expect in the traditional B&B. Each room has a very comfortable super king size bed, seating area with sofa or comfy armchairs, double ended bath, separate shower, silent fridge with fresh milk, homemade shortbread and a whole lemon drizzle cake on arrival.
We have one downstairs room which is suitable for guests in a wheelchair or those who have difficulty managing stairs. We also welcome dogs in one room.
Two of the rooms are in a separate annex outside and prove very popular with people who want the personal touch of a B&B but the privacy of their own space.
There are stunning views from floor length windows in the oak framed dining room. We specialise in proving fabulous breakfasts with the full Shropshire breakfast obviously, but also French toast, smoked salmon & scrambled, eggs benedict, poached eggs on herby mushrooms.......
We love wildlife and have nearly an acre of wildflower meadow and a wildlife pond.
1. Market, market and when you think you've marketed enough, market some more! There's no point having the best B&B in the world if no one knows about it!
2. Identify your potential market and don't be scared to target specific groups of people.
3. Get the basics right first ( for a B&B this is a comfortable bed & a great breakfast ) and then add the little extras later.
