In just one evening, visits to our website spiked to a new high and we gained 30 new followers in the first hour after our award was announced. We have been welcomed to a new community and we are hoping to share in that community and use it to drive our marketing and our website and shops forward. Thankyou!
Originally trained as bilingual administrator. Worked in corporate roles for many years but had passion to run my own business. Trained as a sports therapist and exercise instructor and ran my own exercise/therapy business. After injury returned to the business world - helped brother-in-law set up first (and now very successful) serviced office company (www.orega.com) in Staines. Joined the pet industry in 2001 as business manager to owner of small chain of petshops. Ended up buying one of the shops and now have two plus an online store. I am honoured to be a graduate of the Oxford Summer School (retail) - only last year at tender age of 51! (http://www.oxfordsummerschool.co.uk/) Always thirsting for knowledge and excellence.
We have two pet shops now in Bath & Frome in Somerset and we promote responsible pet ownership. We are proud to say we have won many awards for customer service, creativity and animal care and for open day events during National Pet Month and we nominated one of our employees who went on to win Young Retailer of the Year with the Pet Product Retail Association, at our BIRA annual awards gala.
I am a mother of two wonderful children, grandmother (3 gorgeous grandchildren) and we sadly lost our lovely, long-haired German Shepherd doggie in March 2018. Born in London, living in Wiltshire.
Customer service has to be top of the list - get that right and it is half the battle.
Communication is key - and that is two-way - make sure you listen to customers, staff, colleagues. Most mistakes are made because communication breaks down in some way.
Be prepared to adapt and evolve.
