Stratford-Upon-Avon MP and former Chancellor of the Exchequer, Nadhim Zahawi met with business leaders from across Alcester and south Warwickshire during a lunchtime meeting at Minerva Mill Innovation Centre. ‘The Business Change Maker’s Lunch’ was an initiative created by #SBS winners, Talking Tortoise, inviting sixteen business owners to meet with Mr. Zahawi and discuss both the local and national economic outlook.

The event was arranged by the Alcester Business Club, which was established in 2023 to provide local businesses from Alcester and the surrounding areas with the opportunity to extend their business network and work collaboratively. The monthly networking event takes place each month at Minerva Mill, a Victorian Grade II listed serviced office space in the heart of Alcester.

Talking Tortoise Managing Director, Jessica Blyth-Sweetingham said “We’re delighted with how well received the Alcester Business Club has been since it was started by the Minerva Mill team last year. At our event with Nadhim Zahawi, we wanted to bring together business owners whose objectives aren’t solely profit motivated, but instead are working towards making a difference in their community. By hosting the ‘Business Change Maker’s Lunch’ at Minerva Mill, we have also managed to raise £300 for The Trussell Trust, which will hopefully support them with their mission to fight UK wide poverty.”

“The meeting at Minerva Mill re-enforced my belief that Alcester is a great place to do business. It was a genuine pleasure to meet with business owners who are actively giving back to their communities, providing local employment and supporting opportunities for economic growth,” added Mr. Zahawi.
