Poly-silk is made from petroleum by-products so it is not a primary carbon-creating product, but rather, beneficially utilizes waste material from the petroleum-processing method that might otherwise end up in land-fill, or at the bottom of the world’s oceans.

Another ecological benefit is its ability to be washed with cold water, eliminating the need for heated water, chemical washing powders and costly, energy consuming washing-machine cycles. In addition to all of this, it lasts for a very long time without fading.

Our Poly-silk artificial flowers are damage / crush-resistant and very lightweight so they can be transported in high volume, thus reducing the requirement for carbon-unfriendly flights, unlike imported fresh flowers, which are mainly flown to their destination markets. Actually, poly-silk flowers are often shipped, which further reduces their carbon footprint as shipping generates one-twentieth of the emissions of flying.

Artificial flowers of course do not need to be watered; they also last for a very long time, unlike fresh flowers, which require a great deal of watering from seed to display. Fresh flowers last for around a week to 10 days at most and so have to be replaced regularly if you want to decorate your  business space with them, they are therefore, fairly costly when compared to our Indelible Bouquet artificial blooms.

Cultivated fresh flowers are often grown using toxic chemical fertilizers and pesticides that are damaging to the environment as they can contaminate the soil and even cause health problems for workers and critical bee populations! Our everlasting flowers do not utilize artificial chemical dyes; instead our colors are achieved through the use of natural dyes, which in combination with our Real Feel technology has the added benefit of making them extremely difficult to distinguish by sight or touch, from the real thing.

There are therefore pluses and negatives for both types of flowers, but much to the surprise of consumers, overall the carbon footprint is better for artificial flowers than farmed flowers. Additionally, our silk flowers are extremely long-lasting, requiring only a cold wash from time to time as opposed to fresh flowers, which have a very short shelf-life. The type of flowers one buys is a personal and emotional choice, but many environmentally-aware customers are routinely using our Indelible Bouquet silk flowers to add a touch of luxury to everything from their Hotels, offices, event, clubs and residential saving money and reducing their carbon footprint at the same time.
