Valentine’s Day can often be a day focused on the wrong things.  A day that is meant to be about love ends up being about big, romantic gestures and expensive meals out.

Given that we're all in lockdown this year, we can choose to see it as a blessing in disguide; allowing us to take a step back, spend some quality time with our loved ones and celebrate Valentine’s Day in a more mindful and authentic way.

Here are some ideas for you of Valentine's date night activities you can do at home as a couple or even virtually this Valentine's Day.

1. COOK AT HOME

Cooking can be relaxing & therapeutic; spending time in the kitchen together cooking a romantic Valentine’s meal is a lovely way to bond with each other and relax at the same time.   It will also feel so much more rewarding than sitting in an expensive, crowded restaurant.

La Tua Pasta are offering a Valentine's themed pasta meal kit, with heart shaped pasta and table mats!

If you’re currently separated from your loved one due to the pandemic, why not try each cooking the same meal and sitting down to dinner over Zoom, to give you a sense of connection while you’re away from each other.

2. TAKE THE TIME TO TALK AND LISTEN TO EACH OTHER

Often, daily routine can take over and we don’t spend as much time as we used to talking to or actively and mindfully listening to each other.

It’s quite common after a long day of work to both slump in front of the TV and zone out; you’re physically with each other but your mind can be a million miles away, distracted by your stream of thoughts.

This year, give your partner the gift of your full, undivided attention.  Put away your phone and other distractions, and take the time to connect, talk and truly listen.

Our conversation starter cards can be a fun way to learn more about each other and express your feelings, and come included in our 'Date Night In' Luxury Gift Box.

3. PAMPER EACH OTHER

Self-care and looking after yourself and your loved ones is more important now then ever before, given everything that’s going on in the world.

A romantic spa evening date night this Valentine's Day is the perfect way to relax, de-stress and enjoy some quality time with your partner. We've made it easy for you with our 'Mindful Date Night In' Couple's Gift Box.

Light the candle, put on some soothing music, and run a romantic bath with the organic bath bombs & rose petals.  End the evening by giving each other a relaxing massage with the natural massage oil and transport each other into a state of bliss!

If you’re sending a gift to a loved one you won’t be seeing on Valentine’s Day this year, consider sending them our 'You Are Loved' Valentine's Gift Box, so that you can treat them to an indulgent pamper evening at home.

£1 from every purchase is donated to the British Heart Foundation, funding research to help keep hearts beating.

4. HAVE A COUPLE'S MEDITATION SESSION

Often when we think of meditation, it’s considered to be a solo activity.  But in fact, couple’s meditation can help to strengthen your relationship with your partner and can be a calming activity to do together on Valentine’s Day.

Practicing meditation and breathing together can help to create calm, reduce conflict and increase the sense of connection between you both.  As you become more tuned into each other, this can in turn help with trust, understanding and empathy.

Apps such as Headspace are a great way to try this out together on Valentine’s Day, and don’t worry if you don’t get the hang of it at first; it’s great to have a good laugh together too!

5. REMEMBER VALENTINE'S DAY IS NOT JUST FOR COUPLES!

Remember that Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be exclusively for couples.  It’s about celebrating all types of love; whether that’s self-love, or love for your friends and family.

If you’re single or unable to be with your loved one this Valentine’s Day, take time to pamper yourself and give yourself the love and attention that you deserve.  Consider having a spa evening at home, cooking your favourite meal or gifting yourself something nice – because you deserve it!

Kindness also goes a long way, so reach out to your friends and family and tell them how much you love and appreciate them.  Our 'Galentine's Luxury Friendship Gift Box is a perfect way to send some love to your friends this Valentine's Day.
