Auriella Ltd T/A Solar Buddies

Kelli and Laura founded their company Auriella Ltd in August 2014 after a 2 year journey creating their product the Solar Buddies.
They started their journey in March 2012 after realising there was a huge problem within schools when it came to children applying sunscreen. Children as young as nursery age are required to apply their own sunscreen durning school hours as most schools in the UK have 'No touch policies' in place, meaning teachers are unable to apply or assist a child when applying sunscreen. Kelli and Laura soon decided to try and find a solution to an ever growing problem and two years later the Solar Buddies were born.
To help with design process Kelli and Laura were lucky enough to get Cardiff Metropolitan University on board and their Arts and Design department took on the project through one of their masters students. At the end of the project the student graduated with a degree from completing the Solar Buddies project. Kelli and Laura are very proud of what they have achieved to date and their highest point so far (next winning #sbs) has been winning Innovation of the year at The Welsh Business Growth Awards in March 2016.
Since it's launch in 2015 the Solar Buddies have been sold worldwide and have distributors in Australia and Ireland.

'We are so proud of what we have managed to achieve so far. As two mums with no business background taking that leap was one of the scariest but most exciting things we have ever done and we would do it again in a hearbeat.
