Tell us how #SBS has affected your business
It's already raised our profile among the Twitter community and helped us strengthen our networks - there is a real buzz around the Cafe now!
We had always wanted to own a coffee shop or tearoom and our chance came when a local cafe near our home came on the market in 2010. The Cafe was already viewed as a hub within the local community which also appealed to us. We got very excited about the idea of owning this lovely little cafe so close to home. This led to my husband John retiring from his full time job on the railway to run the cafe on a day to day basis. We can't believe we have been running it now for almost five years. Over this time we have worked hard to develop something that would make us stand out from the crowd. We source as much of our food as possible from local suppliers and producers, and support the local community as much as possible.
Keep focused on the quality and consistency of your offer and don't get too easily distracted! Find your point of difference to keep ahead of your competitors so people want to visit you rather than the cafe or coffee shop across the road.
