MotoKind is a UK motorcycle community built around kindness, trust and connection.
I created MotoKind after passing my motorcycle test and discovering that, although there were plenty of places for riders online, I couldn't always find the kind of space I was looking for. I wanted somewhere people could ask questions without feeling silly, share experiences without being judged and connect with others without having to fit a particular idea of what a biker should be.
Since then, MotoKind has grown and evolved by listening to the people within it. We're building a community that connects riders with each other and with businesses they can trust, alongside workshops, events and practical support designed around what riders actually need.
Our first Know Your Bike workshops are helping riders build confidence through a better understanding of their motorcycles, while the MotoKind Rider's Fund allows us to give something back and support riders when a little help can make a real difference.
At the heart of it all is a very simple belief: motorcycling should feel welcoming and accessible, and business can grow without extracting from the community it serves.
MotoKind is still evolving, and that's intentional. We listen, we learn and we build from there.
I'm Karen Rhodes, founder of MotoKind and a marketer who has always been more interested in people than selling things to them.
I came to motorcycling later in life and passed my test in 2023. Being new to the motorcycle world meant I saw it with fresh eyes. I found an incredible community, but I also noticed how intimidating some spaces could feel when you were new, didn't know the terminology or simply wanted to ask a question without being made to feel silly.
MotoKind grew from that experience.
My background is in marketing, communication and bringing people together, and I've spent much of my career helping businesses understand the humans behind their customers. I now bring that experience into the motorcycle world, building MotoKind by listening to riders, connecting good people and businesses, and creating things that have a positive impact.
I'm not interested in pretending I have all the answers. I'm far more interested in asking better questions, listening to what people tell me and doing something useful with what I learn.
Listen before you build.
Some of the best ideas I've had for MotoKind haven't come from sitting at my desk trying to think of the next thing to sell. They've come from conversations, comments, messages and paying attention to the things people say when they're not trying to give you business advice.
It's very easy to become so focused on what we want our businesses to be that we stop noticing what the people we're serving actually need.
Ask questions. Stay curious. Don't be afraid to change something when the answer isn't what you expected.
Your customers and community will tell you an enormous amount if you give them the opportunity. The important bit is what you do after you've listened.
Know Your Bike Workshops
Our Know Your Bike workshops are designed for riders who want to understand their motorcycle better, without being overwhelmed by jargon or feeling they should already know the answers.
We'll spend a few relaxed hours learning about the different parts of a motorcycle, talking through simple pre-ride checks and giving riders the opportunity to ask the questions they've perhaps never felt comfortable asking.
This isn't rider training or a mechanics course. It's a practical introduction to understanding your motorcycle and building confidence around your own bike.
Our first workshop is taking place in Ipswich, with more workshops planned.
If you'd like to attend a future workshop, host one at your venue or talk to us about supporting the programme, we'd love to hear from you.
