Top Trending Kids Party Themes 2017

2016 was packed with a vast range of children’s birthday party themes. From Kim Kardashian & Kanye West’s daughter North’s, Mermaid themed party to Blue Ivy Carter’s Fairy party and not forgetting Britney Spears’ boys, Jayden Jaymes and Sean Preston’s Pokémon themed pool party. So what’s going to be the hottest kid’s party trends and themes in 2017?

Well, we’ve certainly seen a higher demand for more ‘interactive’ experiences at parties especially for older children including different forms of gaming and virtual reality which will definitely develop further in 2017. Balloons will become a staple part of your party decorations, as they are now more fashionable and can be adapted to any style.  Large props and staging are also a key requirement, the bigger the better, to really set the scene.

So, these are the soirees we predict you’ll be wanting your mini-me to be rocking up to in 2017:

Traditional

ALICE IN WONDERLAND PARTY LOVE LUCIAS PARTIES

There’s absolutely no doubt that younger children will always love the classic’s, Beatrix Potter, Roald Dahl, Lewis Carroll; these are usually stemmed from bedtime stories, filling children’s minds with fun filled adventures before they drift off into their own Wonderland.  These parties are very nostalgic and can be equally beautiful.  Our Alice In Wonderland party is still one of our best sellers for the under 7’s, whilst Peter Rabbit is a firm favourite for under two’s and Roald Dahl story lead parties for 4-5 year olds.

Party tips:  Think whimsical garden setting, soft pastel palette, large hanging tissue pom poms and vintage atmosphere.

Princesses

We would hands down say that Princess themed parties are here to stay. A favourite for girls under the age of 6 years, pink is still the most popular colour theme for this party by far. And to further enhance this trend, in March 2017, Emma Watson will take centre stage in the forthcoming blockbuster, Beauty & The Beast. This much anticipated film will certainly have an influence on children’s Princess parties, so watch out for more on this fairytale party.

Party tips: Start with large props i.e. castles or turrets, red carpet, staff dressed in royal household uniforms or mice outfits as in Cinderella, enchanting music and lots of pink and glitter.

Superheroes

For every Princess party, there has to be a Superhero party. The Marvel phenomenon grows year on year and with not one but two huge Marvel films on the horizon in 2017, including the untitled Spider Man movie (made at Marvel Studios for the first time!) and Thor, be assured that the Superhero party will be as popular as ever.  And they’re not just for boys as we are already receiving requests for Wonder Woman themed parties, another film due out in 2017.

Party tips: Book reputable Superhero characters to entertain the children, ensure you check out their recent videos and be sure to reserve the actor that you want, not a stand in that’s available on the day. Make a DIY skyline as a backdrop and theme your party food to each character.

Lego

Still going strong, there are so many varieties of Lego these days; kids (& adults) never grow bored. This party theme will be reinforced in 2017 with the new Lego Batman movie – combining a Superhero with Lego is a genius move. So building blocks at the ready, here we go!

Party tips:  Primary colours work well; have a variety of themed Lego stations set up with action film score music playing in the background to set the scene.

Toy Story

With the next instalment of Toy Story being released mid 2017; we can’t wait to see what’s in store for Woody and the gang. Loved by boys and girls this popular party theme is best mixed into a Wild West party or Cowboys and Cowgirls. It works especially well in backyards or even better if you can bag a barn!

Party tips: ‘Wanted’ poster style invitations, lots of bales of hay, red and white gingham, cowboy hats as party bag gifts.

Star Wars

This party theme is so much fun; even the adults get into character. And if you thought that Star Wars: The Force Awakens was on point, wait until you see the new Star Wars film in 2017 – Star Wars Episode VIII.

Party tips: Blacked out rooms and venues are perfect, glow in the dark accessories and authentic costumes are a must for everyone in attendance.
